Thanks for your interest in sharing your story! Your voice will be added to those who are telling the world that exercising their right to a safe, legal abortion does not have to be the regretful guilt-ridden trip to victimhood the anti-choicers would have you believe. Here are a few tips to help you put your story together:
1. You may share your story on either INS’ Facebook or Tumblr pages. If your story was published previously, rest assured that it is still here. It’s fine to share between sites-the more eyes on your story, the better!
2. Be creative! If you want to present your story as an illustration or video, particularly on Tumblr, go for it. If you want to write it out, feel free. The only thing that’s asked of contributors is not to just put up something like “I had an abortion and I’m not sorry.” Remember that a lot of women who come to the site are looking for information because they’re scared of the unknown. The more detail you give about your procedure, the more reassurance you’ll give to them. However, please use common sense when posting videos or pictures. No nude selfies, no GIFs of your favorite pop or porn star, and if you could lay off the glittery graphics I’d appreciate it. If you have doubts, don’t hesitate to e-mail what you have to me before you post it and I’ll take a look at it. I also reserve the right to delete a Tumblr post if I believe it’s not appropriate for the site. If I do so-keep in mind that over the years I have rejected very little content-I will let you know exactly why I did.
3. For those who hold an opposite view, please see the commenting policy page regarding posts or comments.
4. Bear in mind that there’s the chance that something gross or inappropriate might be posted of which I’m not aware because I’m at the Real World Job, which blocks Tumblr and Facebook from PCs. I will do my best to check on things from my phone, but generally I’m only online in the early mornings and evenings. Please don’t spam the INS mailbox with complaints if you see something during normal business hours. Unless someone wants to start paying me so I can quit my job and pay attention to INS 24/7 (hey, I can dream) you’ll need to don your Big Person Underwear and be patient until I can get to it.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
***Proceeding to the posting areas listed above demonstrates your acceptance of the above terms.***
