Iris’s Story

I was 20 years old and in college to be an art Teacher when I got pregnant with my first child. I dropped out of college and became a mother. When i was 22 I was involved with a guy and was scared to get PG again (as my birth control failed the first time). I got pregnant and was devastated; I thought I was being so careful. Anyway I was living with my mom and was with no job at all when I got pregnant.

I knew I had no choice to but to have an abortion. I am pro-choice and knew pretty much what I was doing and where to go. It was hard at first because my boyfriend was not very supportive, and my mom wanted me to have it.

The clinic was great—I was greeted nicely and treated good; the procedure took no time at all. I had some slight cramping and that was it. I was so relieved to have done it. I mean I was already a single mother to a baby and to have another one not married and single would have just killed me and as for the guy … well, he had been cheating on me. And so I was glad to not have to be tied to him. As for how I feel I have no regrets and no sorrow for what I did. Now I am happily married with 3 kids who I love and adore completely. Thank you and I am not sorry.
