| Stephanie's Story |
As an 18 year old who had already been faced with an unplanned pregnancy at 16, I was extremely surprised to find out I was pregnant for the second time. At first, I wanted to continue the pregnancy. Then I started thinking more realistically-what about college? Can I afford another child? Do I want to deal with a screaming newborn while being a full-time college student and working full time as well? The answer to all these questions was a big no. I immediately decided to get an abortion, and I did. When I went to the clinic I was not scared or nervous because I was 110% sure I was making the right decision for myself. I chose general anesthesia for the procedure, and I remember none of it. I remember waking up in the recovery room feeling relieved and extremely happy that I was not pregnant anymore. Its been a few weeks since the abortion, and I haven't felt any regrets, or sad for one moment. I knew what I did was the best decision for me at this point in my life, and I am happy to continue my life without another child.
