Jennifer's Story

My name is Jennifer. I was twenty two years old and the mother of a 3 year old boy. Did I need another child right then? Not by any means.

I had graduated college, I was hapily married for 3 years and I was working full time as a designer. My family and I were able to come and go on vacations as we pleased, we were able to have and do what we wanted when we wanted. I struggled to get this far and would not let anything set me back.

At work one day, I started feeling immeasurable pain and had my husband pick me up from work. We went to the ER and waited for the doctors. I was told that I was 8 weeks pregnant and needed to be on bedrest so I did not miscarry. NO WAY! I was on the Depo shot and knew that I did not want another child. So, we did what we have the right to do: Choose to have an abortion.

My husband and I made an appointment for later that week at the Women's Center. We arrived to a cozy place with many smiling faces to greet us. The two of us filled out paperwork, talked to the counselors (yes, together) and had the ultrasound, bloodwork, etc. completed.

The nurse then took me to the room where they perform the procedures. The doctor came in and talked for a few minutes. We knew him from one of the many social functions we attend. I was given the "twilight" sedation and the procedure was done.

A little while later, my husband and I got in the car and went home to enjoy our already born child and our day to day.
